Choices

Thursday, February 21, 2008

Whilst I’m not going to justify the choice we’ve made to have this baby at home, I would like to touch on the fact that the next time someone says to you(if you are in fact a pregnant woman planning to birth naturally at home), “Oooooh, homebirth, you’re brave!” remind them that they are in fact the brave ones, setting forth into the hospital where the plain old acceptance of brutality is just standard…..women have the right to choice. Birth isn’t just a medical event, it is paramount. The place you choose to birth makes a huge difference!

Really, what sort of birth would you choose?

Having a traumatic experience and then people giving you the “You’ve got a healthy baby and that’s what matters” line is just not good enough. There are alternatives. Homebirth is safe, natural and normal. Give it a thought….

Check this one out but don’t if you can’t deal with mild birth scenes well. With thanks to The Morrigan over at JB.
