Wedding Bells

We’ve had a very busy weekend indeed!

John got skanking on Friday night to the sounds of The Upsteppers and Kingfisha, so he was sufficiently laid back for a car trip down to Brisbane for Tara and Mike’s wedding.

On Saturday, we set out for the city. As with any car trip, I spent the entire time wedged between the kid’s seats, car-boobing the boy as he saw fit (this is the ONLY way to travel with our sensitive little lad!!). We got settled into our room at the swanky Grand Chancellor. We had a great view of a crane so that kept the kids pretty darn happy!

Then I was off on bridesmaid duty for the rest of the day/evening. I had a great time, dressing up and the like. With much help from the other women, I was able to have a fancy face of makeup (it’s been years makeup free for me, so I was a bit of a novice). Jade and Monique looked fantastic and of course, Tara was nothing short of breathtaking.

The ceremony was really lovely. I’m pleased to say that I didn’t fall off my heels and break any ankles. I remained surefooted as a mountain goat, despite my internal fear!

The reception was equally grand, with some great speeches, dancing and much smooching on Tara and Mike’s behalf. HUGE congrats to you both. It was a really fantastic wedding.

We spend Sunday wandering around Brisbane’s cultural sites- art galleries, gardens, the museum and some well needed playtime in The Corner at the State Library.

So, now we’re thoroughly exhausted….but it was a great weekend. I was so pleased that it all went so smoothly – no meltdowns with the kids, everyone was happy and Tara and Mike look like they had a brilliant romantic party. Hurrah!

Get ready! Here comes the onslaught of images!
